Eliyahu Pereira: God Vibes Only - Understanding God from a Jewish Perspective

In the episode “God Vibes Only: Understanding God from a Jewish Perspective” of my What is God? podcast, we talked about spiritual growth and a lot of Jewish beliefs and concepts with our very special guest, Eliyahu Pereira. As a Jew, he shared interesting takes and teachings from the Torah in such an enthusiastic way that even I, as a fellow Jew, was able to learn new things and realized mind-blowing perspectives that this humble man has to offer.

The episode began with a heartwarming reflection on our personal journeys, as we discovered that we had crossed paths exactly 13 years ago and we’re finally able to meet in the present moment now that I have returned to Israel. He then shared captivating stories about what and where God is—stories that leave our listeners reflecting on their own understanding of the Divine. We also talked about Halakhah, a Jewish practice that incorporates God into our everyday activities, and discussed how every action and experience can be imbued with a connection to the Divine.

We also contemplated our role as messengers of God and how there are also messages left for us. I recalled an incident earlier in my trip about how coming back home made me feel connected with my younger self 13 years ago and how a young girl asked me to walk her home, like my realizations just materialized at that exact moment. This incident served as a profound realization of my own growth and connection with my past self. As I kept mentioning the 13 years I’ve been far from home, Eliyahu shared his wisdom on Gematria and its interesting implication on my situation. We also acknowledge the power of words and how they can shape our reality.

Eliyahu also shared his personal journey of discovering God as a Jew, beyond Western portrayals, emphasizing the importance of being open to God's revelation in our lives. We discussed that we have the opportunity to choose the path and lifestyle we wish to pursue, acknowledging that our choices shape who we become.

In the final segment of our conversation, we explored ways of reconnecting with God. Eliyahu shared valuable insights and practices that listeners from all religious backgrounds can incorporate into their lives.
